Norlender emerged as a small textile factory in 1927 founded by the present owner’s grandfather in the basement of his farm house at Tveiten, a mountain village situated on the island of Osterøy on the beautiful west coast of Norway. The business grew fast, and very soon "the factory in the mountains” as it was called, became a valuable and stable employer for many local people in the area. New product lines and designs were developed and distributed all over Norway.
In 1947 production was moved from the mountains down to a newly-built factory in a small village called Hosanger, on the side of the stunning Osterfjord. Hosanger is located on the island of Osterøy, which is approximately 51 km north west of Bergen. Osterøy island is completely surrounded by fjords and mainland and its spectacular and ever-changing landscape is particularly beautiful when viewed from the sea.
Our Knitwear Designs are all based on rich Norwegian knitting heritage, where traditional materials are used to produce knitwear of the highest quality. Our Woollen range has garments suitable for all occasions; formal, sporty or leisure. Here in Norway the cold climate has been the driving force in teaching us about the qualities of pure wool, which is the only yarn we use. Being a third generation family business, we are proud of the chance we have been given to continue this textile tradition and are pleased to be able to offer you our latest designs of Norwegian Sweaters and Knitwear for your enjoyment.
